Set in the historic Lysnar Ballroom, dining at the Marina is an experience not to be missed!
This historic building was originally the ballroom of Lysnar House which was built in 1919. Lysnar house was the home of lawyer, landowner and politician, William Douglas and his wife Ida Eleanor (nee Tiffen) Lysnar. The extension of the ballroom to Lysnar House was built for the 21st birthday celebrations of his daughter, Winifred Lysnar. The loft where the string quartet played still exists as does the chaperons room at the very top of the building. This section of Lysnar House was moved to its present site in 1975 on the junction of three rivers – the Waimata River, the Taruheru River and the Turanganui River.
